Our NewsletterHey Big Spender! Newsletter   Photos by Noah Rolland Photography Mill Valley Loves a Parade!There is nothing like a parade to bring a town together. Mill Valley’s 2006 Memorial Day Parade was one I will always remember. On a picture perfect day, thousands of friendly Mill Valley folk came out to cheer on their local parade participants. Politicians, pre-school children, karate studios, swim teams, and fashion police were only some of the broad groups of people walking the parade route. The sunny and cloud free sky made our little downtown sparkle at the foot of majestic Mt. Tam, and made me glad to live in this slice of paradise. While the weather and the setting were stunning, I will always remember the day because of SpendLocally’s coming out party. My wife, Christine, sent out a plea to our friends for assistance in distributing SpendLocally bags and candy at the parade. In an amazing show of support, about 30 people and 3 dogs wore out their shoes/paws and their voices while walking the parade and offering candy bags to all. It was a lot of hard work for adults and children alike, who did it for nothing more than friendship. We are truly blessed to have such wonderful and giving friends. So, a public thanks to all of our friends who gave up their day to spread the SpendLocally gospel: you guys are great! Aside from re-discovering what wonderful friends we have, I was struck by the positive response we received from the community. The citizens of Mill Valley (“ans” or “ites?”) listened to our message and seemed to really care about their local merchants. Spending Locally is a concept they believe in, and we hope that transfers into use of our site and of our participating shopkeepers.
